Questions we get asked

How do I get a price for asbestos removal?

Send us the property address and a few photos of the roof or ceiling. Using those and aerial imagery of the building, we can usually give you an estimate within 24 hours. For a firm price, we visit the site within 72 hours and follow up with a written, itemised quote. Both are free.

Does an asbestos roof have to be removed?

Not always. Sound asbestos cement can stay in place if it is managed and left undisturbed. Workplaces must keep an inventory of the asbestos in place, assess the risk and have a written management plan that includes phasing it out (regulations 4 to 6). Removal is the better choice when sheets are cracked or broken, or when you plan solar panels, alterations or a new roof. This is general information, not legal advice.

How do I know if my roof or ceiling is asbestos?

Only a test by an accredited laboratory can confirm it. The building's age and the look of the sheets or boards can raise the question but can't answer it. Until you know, treat the material as asbestos: don't drill, cut, sand, scrape or pressure-wash it.

Do you fit the new roof or ceiling as well?

Yes. Once the asbestos is out and the clearance certificate is issued, we fit the new roof, gutters or ceiling, so the whole job is planned as one project with one company.

Do you remove asbestos pipe lagging or insulation?

No. Our Type 2 registration covers asbestos cement products, such as roof sheets, gutters and downpipes, and asbestos insulating board. Pipe lagging, sprayed coatings and other loose asbestos need a different registration. If we find any, we'll tell you and refer you to a contractor registered for that work.

Which areas do you cover?

We work across greater Cape Town, the Helderberg, the West Coast and Worcester. If your building is further out, ask us.
